Interactive plenary – The road to Dubai: how business can deliver at COP28

In this interactive session, we will offer behind-the-scenes insights into the priorities and preparations of the UAE Presidency for COP28, including the three priority areas that WBCSD will be working to deliver: corporate carbon accountability, energy transition and food systems. In conversation with a key international influencer of the COP process, we will discuss the real challenges COP28 faces and offer a constructive view on the ways business can engage more ambitiously to yield an impactful result for the private sector, people and planet alike.

Closing plenary – From inspiration to action: creating future change agents

We will close our plenary day on an inspirational note by focusing on the key outcomes of our discussions in the day to empower the sustainability leaders in the room as change agents. This interactive session will highlight summary points and seek to turn these outcomes into concrete individual actions that each one of us can bring back to our respective organizations.

Interactive plenary – Tackling inequality: An agenda for business action

Mounting inequality represents an urgent systemic and business risk, and all companies have a vested interest and critical role to play in addressing it. For the first time and webcast to public, we will present key findings from the flagship report of the Business Commission to Tackle Inequality (BCTI) – a cross-sector, multi-stakeholder coalition of over 60 organizations and their leaders with the mission of mobilizing the private sector to tackle inequality and generate shared prosperity for all. Leaders from the BCTI will present the action agenda and discuss key priorities and opportunties for business as we move forward with implementation at scale.

Flipping the switch: on the fast lane to low carbon

Organized in collaboration with Eaton and Accenture, this immersive session will include a visit to the Eaton site in Mont sur Lausanne (tbc) and see the launch of the Switch project which provides access to knowledge, networks and practical tools to help companies make the most of the transition to net-zero. The project explores holistic approaches to energy, buildings and mobility for clean, efficient and electrified futures. You will discover real-life examples of this integrated approach in practice including photovoltaic and storage facilities enabling self-consumption and peak shaving, charging infrastructure for public and private users, a management software allowing user authentication, billing and load prioritization and others.

Accountability, ambition and action towards healthy, equitable & sustainable food

In this hands-on hackathon-style session, we will explore what companies can do to make meaningful contributions to food systems transformation, and how they can implement these actions. Building on our Accountability, ambition and action framework, we will explore how businesses can advance action on nutrition, livelihoods, nature and climate in view of delivering a successful COP28 and meaningful UN Food Systems Summit (FSS) Global Stocktake in 2023. We will focus on practical solutions on resilient livelihoods, regenerative agriculture and the uptake of healthy, sustainable, affordable diets for all.

Inner Development Goals: education with impact

At the heart of the greatest challenges of our time – climate emergency, nature loss, mounting inequality – is human behaviour. The good news is that it is within our power to change the world for the better. Together. This session will provide you with practical tips and exercises in embodying the Inner Development Goals and discuss how this framework can hep you, your organization and the world at large.

Responsible policy engagement: what that means for WBCSD members

At COP27, the UN High-Level Expert Group on Net-Zero Emissions Commitments published their Integrity Matters report, which reinforces the importance of integrity and accountability of non-state entities in their ambitions to achieve net-zero commitments by 2050 or earlier. The report provides a framework for assessing the integrity of net-zero commitments and outlines ten key recommendations to ensure the realization and attainment of net-zero ambitions. These include concrete suggestions about the importance and role of responsible policy engagement of business. In this session, we will explore these recommendations and discuss possible implications for corporate disclosures with the aim of strengthening WBCSD’s current membership condition on responsible policy engagement.

Valuing and financing companies in transition

All companies must prepare and gear up for the unavoidable transition towards a net-zero, nature positive and more equitable future as that’s the only way to achieve inclusive and sustainable business growth. During this transition, financial institutions will play an active role in accelerating and scaling up business action through new market opportunities. In today’s market, capital providers are already integrating sustainability in some equity and debt processes via the ESG lens. This session will focus on critical next steps for sustainability to be fully integrated in valuation and financing decisions to reward business transformations.

Scope 3 clinic: equipping you to master the challenge

In this interactive session, we will seek to answer the most burning questions on Scope 3 carbon accounting, with experts on PACT, Scope 3 incentivization and mitigation and GHG Protocol accounting. We will build on the recent findings of the GHG Protocol and SBTi surveys on Scope 3 to facilitate a discussion on how your peers are tackling or planning to tackle Scope 3, and identify what else is needed – either at company-level or externally – to make the proposed solutions a reality. Through a solutions-oriented focus, we will equip you with the necessary tools and knowledge to successfully decarbonize your company’s Scope 3 emissions.

Preparing your business for better ESG disclosure

The ESG reporting landscape is evolving quickly. Companies are struggling to respond to multiple demands from regulators, investors, standard setters and external stakeholders to disclose ESG-related risks and opportunities, set credible targets and measure and report progress. The most effective way for companies to prepare is by building internal systems that integrate ESG risks and opportunities into core organizational processes on which they can report. In this session, we will explore solutions and resources to prepare for evolving ESG disclosure demands by strengthening core organisational systems for governance and strategy setting; Entreprise Risk Management (ERM); and integrated performance management.

Join this session to hear early lessons from the Taskforce for Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) piloting process conducted by WBCSD with support from PwC. You’ll hear lessons across the three key value-chain systems across land use, energy and built environment framed around the five key questions that are being asked 1:1. Participants will be invited to reflect on their readiness for disclosures and next actions ahead of the release of the first TNFD framework in September this year.

Market transformation to net-zero: built environment

If the world is to decarbonize the built environment at the needed pace, all actors involved in building and construction need to have a clear understanding of how to set and achieve carbon reduction targets in line with the required 2030 and 2050 trajectories. In the run up to COP28 and the emerging Buildings Breakthrough, we will showcase to national and sub-national governments that solutions to decarbonize the built environment along its full life-cycle exist and highlight how they can be scaled up by addressing the key barriers to implementation along the value chain, and how policy and regulation can help.

Join this session with Albrecht Enders, the lead author of Solvable to learn more. Solvable offers a simple solution with a 3-step process—Frame, Explore, Decide—and concrete tools that you can use to become a better problem solver and successfully engage relevant stakeholders in the transition to a more sustainable future.

Climate & Nature Action Network in the Asia Pacific region

The Asia Pacific region, which accounts for 1/3 of the world’s population, more than 60% of the world’s total economy, and nearly half of the world’s total trade, is the most dynamic growth zone of the global economy. It is also the most vulnerable region to climate change and nature loss along with great challenges on inequity. In this session, representatives from governments, businesses, and think tanks will discuss how to deal with these emerging challenges from an Asian perspective and promote the creation of a Climate & Nature Action Network to drive this agenda.

Beyond value chain actions for climate and nature

In the transition to net zero and nature positive, companies are first and foremost responsible for the impacts associated with their own direct operations and supply chains. Yet, resolving the climate and nature crises requires extraordinary action and investment at large scale in the next decade. Businesses can play a key role and demonstrate leadership by funding beyond value chain mitigation actions which will help close the funding and commitment gaps to half emissions by 2030 and reversing the loss of biodiversity by 2030. In this session, we will demonstrate how companies can do this by purchasing Natural Climate Solutions carbon credits on the Voluntary Carbon Market (VCM) and participating in the nascent biodiversity credit market.

Business action in the desert – COP28 world café

During this interactive lunch discussion, you will explore WBCSD plans to mobilize business action across key value chains through the development of specific products and initiatives for COP28. Organized in a “world café” format, the session will allow members to co-design engagement opportunities linked to the projects for COP28. A system will be put in place to enable follow up and engage in specific work after the LD Meeting.

Insetting and scope 3 in the agri-food sector

Companies in the land, food and agriculture space are facing a host of challenges in how they account for and take collective action to incentivize producers to meet climate and nature targets. What are the links between the GHG Protocol and carbon removals through forests and soil? How can we account for insetting activities within the value chain? How are insetting interventions connected to regenerative agriculture and avoided deforestation strategies? What does fair ownership of insetting and carbon credits look like? And many more. This session will shed light on these challenges and cover sources of finance that primary producers can access to reduce land-based emissions with biodiversity and equity co-benefits, with a focus on the agri-food value chain. We will discuss the risks, barriers and opportunities associated with different financing models for the actors along the agri-food value chain and the role WBCSD can play.

Interactive plenary – How the Inner Development Goals can enable sustainability

It is hard to learn when you already know. As sustainability becomes mainstream, enacting the systems change we need will involve working with people with different understandings, knowledge, needs, values, and convictions. What personal and interpersonal capacities as well as new knowledge are needed to enact systems transformation for a better world? In this session, we will focus on empowering sustainability leaders through the Inner Development Goals, the transformative qualities and skills crucial for addressing sustainability. We will show how inner capacity development can help bridge individual responsibility to collective accountability and share tools that can be applied to business.

Equity lunch

During this informal lunch discussion in hybrid format, we will update members on the ambition and agenda for business to tackle inequality. We will highlight engagement opportunities across key focus areas such as diversity and inclusion, living wages, human rights due diligence and just transition with a focus on exchanging best practice and scoping the development of new tools and guidelines. We will also seek to advance efforts to bring more accountability to the S in ESG by exploring current best practice, analyzing gaps and feeding into the development of key global frameworks.

Interactive plenary – Unlocking finance for the transition to Nature Positive

Unlocking financial flows for nature is critical for meeting the targets outlined in the new Global Biodiversity Framework and the Paris Agreement and to transform our food systems. Yet the “system” to deliver this finance – particularly private finance, is fragmented and often fails to deliver equitable outcomes for civil society, communities, and indigenous peoples. Existing mechanisms such as carbon markets need to deliver for nature and people, emerging instruments like biodiversity credits need to be aligned with market expectations, and landscape funds need to be deployed at scale for impact. Business needs consistent, robust and ‘interoperable’ approaches to accounting and MRV (Measurement, Reporting and Verification) to ensure capital can be allocated to where it has greatest impact to deliver Nature Positive outcomes. In this session, we will explore the latest developments in this space, highlighting both what’s working and what needs to be fixed. By demonstrating the links between different pieces of the system and key levers to unlock transformation, we will seek to build confidence in the instruments that will help finance the transition and shed light on the way forward.

Opening plenary – Shaping the global accountability system for net zero

Sharpening business accountability is paramount to tackling the climate emergency, reversing nature loss and raising equity. Yet, the current corporate carbon accounting system is onerous, lacks alignment and is rapidly evolving without sufficient overall harmonization preventing scalable corporate engagement. Companies have to navigate multiple standards and regulatory frameworks and their strategies often lack substance, transparency and credibility, with supply chain emissions (Scope 3) causing a particular challenge. In this highly dynamic opening session, we will address the main ‘pain points’ for companies that stand in the way of the adoption of a friction-free and high-integrity carbon accountability system whose evolution could accommodate nature and plastics in the future. Together, we will scope the development of a mechanism to support a stocktake and track progress, examining key unlocks both within companies and their supply chains with a sneak peek into “The Accountability North Star”, an online self-assessment tool for companies to navigate a complexifying accountability landscape.

Addressing inequality across value chains

The action agenda to be launched by the Business Commission to Tackle Inequality (BCTI) on 3 May is a critical milestone in our drive to lift the equity imperative to the same level as nature and climate. The report calls for business action on 10 key areas, including enhancing access to essential products and services, creating jobs and economic opportunities for all, respecting human rights and distributing value and risk equitably. In this session, we will discuss short and longer-term priorities at the value chain level for each of our Pathways.

Treat carbon like money: a fit-for-purpose carbon accounting system

Financial accounting principles require that accounts be prepared following the basic principles of clarity, relevance, reliability and comparability. These principles are enforced through global and national standards and regulation. Financial data can be shared across companies via purchase orders and invoices from one participant of a value chain to the next. Audits are common practice. What if the same logic was applied to carbon accounting? In this session, we will explore what this would look like in practice, what would be needed to make this happen, what business opportunities this could unlock and how you can engage to advance this vision.

Equity: the action agenda for business

Mounting inequality represents an urgent systemic and business risk. At the same time, business action to tackle inequality can open a world of opportunity with real commercial advantages to taking the lead. Companies can take action in their own operations, across their value chains and in the communities in which they operate. As unity behind calls for greater equity and equality grows, we will explore this holistic agenda which has been outlined by the Business Commission to Tackle Inequality (BCTI) in their flagship report.

A data exchange protocol to transform to a circular economy

In this workshop, we will explore the role of a data exchange protocol in enabling systems transformation towards a circular economy. First, we will demonstrate how circular economy contributes to addressing the climate emergency, help halt biodiversity loss, and drive a more equitable society. We will highlight the role of data as a key enabler to transform; and share lessons learned from current initiatives. Secondly, we will share perspectives on the role of data exchange, explore the different challenges associated with it, build a collective understanding of current initiatives, and co-create the scope for a data exchange protocol.

Acting now on adaptation

There is a low sense of urgency among many key business decision-makers to act on adaptation in parallel to mitigation. We are seeking to bring attention to the need for faster action on adaptation through an interactive foresight exercise that will transport members to 2035, making visible the impacts of climate change on businesses and society. This introductory session will demonstrate the potential of using a more detailed foresight exercise as a tool in your business strategy for adaptation planning to help internal decision-makers visualize the true impacts of climate change.

Circularity strategies in an increasingly regulated environment

This session will provide insight into upcoming policy developments on plastic pollution, circularity, waste, chemicals, trade and accountability. We will address how major global and regional policy instruments can help accelerate circularity, what impacts business can expect, how companies can adapt their strategies to the new rules and what tools, frameworks and collaborations are needed across the value chains to support the circular transition, including opportunities that a Global Circularity Protocol will unlock.

Greenhouse Gas (GHG) accounting and reporting standards play a critical role in helping organizations measure and manage GHG emissions and track progress towards reduction targets. The GHG accounting ecosystem is evolving rapidly to reflect changing stakeholder needs and growing emphasis on transparency and accountability. In this session, experts from WRI and WBCSD will unpack the climate/GHG accounting ecosystem allowing you to gain a comprehensive understanding of current and upcoming developments to effectively support your carbon accounting teams. Nature-positive: getting on the same page on materiality

In this interactive workshop, we will offer a deep dive into sectoral nature positive roadmaps to discuss the material issues that surfaced as part of our work to identify common ground and approaches across different industries. After a framing introduction, including how this foundational work fits into frameworks including from SBTN and TNFD, we will focus on various sectors and sub-sectors. Participants will have the opportunity to engage with the content and reflect on the applicability to their approach on nature and provide feedback to inform the follow-up processes.

The power of upskilling to boost climate action

Many companies struggle to navigate the onerous net zero landscape. In this session, we will provide guidance on how companies can build capability to bridge the gap between ambition and action. We will run a very interactive session in which we will introduce ‘The Climate Drive’, the one-stop digital solution for all large businesses to build technical climate capabilities at scale and to accelerate the implementation of climate action across all sectors, including hard-to-abate, heavy and light industry.

Ryo Minami, Director General for International Policy on Carbon Neutrality, Agency for Natural Resources and Energy, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, Japan

Mr. Minami Ryo has served as Deputy Commissioner for international affairs, and Director-General for International Policy on Carbon Neutrality at the Agency of Natural Resources and Energy, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) since July 2020. He leads the International Energy Policy as well as International Policy on Carbon Neutrality. Since joining METI in 1990, his main fields of activity have been energy, the environment, and energy finance.

Shigeru Hayakawa, Vice Chairman, Toyota Motor Corporation

Shigeru joined Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) in April 1977. Mr.Hayakawa was appointed department general manager of the International Communications Department, Public Affairs Division in January 2002. In June 2005, he became division general manager of the Public Affairs Division. Mr. Hayakawa was then made managing officer in June 2007, and was appointed president of Toyota Motor North America, Inc. (formerly TMNA) in September of the same year. In April 2011, he was in charge of the Public Affairs Division and in June, deputy chief officer of the External Affairs Group. Mr. Hayakawa then became a senior managing officer at TMC in April 2012. In April 2013, he became the chief officer of the External Affairs & Public Affairs Group. In June 2015, Mr. Hayakawa was named a member of the board of directors, and became chief communications officer in July. In September 2015, he was in charge of the BR Olympic & Paralympic Department, and then of the Olympic & Paralympic Division in November 2015.In April 2017, Mr. Hayakawa was named vice chairman of the board of directors of Toyota Motor Corporation. In February 2020, he became Chief Sustainability Officer. In June 2021, he was appointed Chief Privacy Officer.

Naoko Ishii, Executive Vice President, The University of Tokyo

Dr. Naoko Ishii is a professor and executive vice president at the University of Tokyo, where she is also the inaugural director for the Center for Global Commons, whose mission is to catalyze systems change so that humans can achieve sustainable development within planetary boundaries. She believes academia can and should play an active role in mobilizing movements towards shared goals of nurturing stewardship of the global commons. Before joining the university, Dr. Ishii was CEO and chairperson of the Global Environment Facility (GEF) from 2012-2020. She formed GEF’s first mid-term strategy, GEF 2020, focusing on the transformation of key economic systems. Dr. Ishii entered Japan’s Ministry of Finance in 1981 and served as Deputy Vice Minister of Finance from 2010-2012.

Nakatani Shinichi, State Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), Japan

Mr. Nakatani Shinichi was appointed State Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry and State Minister of Cabinet Office (in charge of the World Expo 2025) in August 2022. This appointment marks Mr. Nakatani’s second ministerial assignment. Previously, he served as Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Mr. Nakatani joins the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) from Japan’s House of Representatives where he has served as a Member since December 2012. During his time as a Member from Japan’s House of Representatives, Mr. Nakatani has successfully won reelection three times. Prior to seeking elected office, Mr. Nakatani served in the 1st Airborne Brigade of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF).

Kahori Miyake, Co-Chair, Japan Climate Leaders’ Partnership

Ms. Miyake is the Co-Chair of Japan Climate Leaders’ Partnership (JCLP), a coalition of more than 200 businesses advancing decarbonization in the country, and the General Manager of ESG Strategy and Solution Department at Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank. She has been heavily involved in lobbying activities not only to the government and policy makers since taking the JCLP Co-chair role in 2019, but also to various industry players and also to the public. JCLP were successfully able to increase the number of companies joining the network from 30+ to more than 150. Currently, she is serving as a member of High-Level Expert Group on the Net-Zero Emissions Commitments of Non-State Entities. Prior to the current role, Ms. Miyake served as the Chief Sustainability Officer of Aeon Co.,Ltd., a retail conglomerate in Japan. Aeon was the first retailer in Japan to commit to net zero by 2050 in 2018 and has always been the forerunner in the Sustainability field.

Dr. Ilham Kadri, CEO and Chair of the Executive Committee, Solvay and Chair of the Executive Committee, WBCSD

Before joining Solvay in 2019, Dr. Ilham Kadri was President and CEO of Diversey, a global U.S.-headquartered leader in hygiene, cleaning solutions, food safety and infection prevention. Dr Kadri is also board member at A.O. Smith, a U.S.-based leading global manufacturer, and supplier of water heating equipment. During her 23-year career, she has held various positions at top multinationals such as Shell-Basell, UCB-Cytec, Huntsman, Rohm Haas-Dow Chemical and Sealed Air. Ilham Kadri led the turnaround of Diversey, starting in 2013, when she joined Sealed Air, the company’s owner at the time. She grew Diversey’s performance and in 2016, led its spin-off and subsequent divestment to Bain Capital. Ilham Kadri is committed to diversity and inclusion, mentoring young women and promoting female leadership in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Throughout her career, she received awards for fighting illiteracy, for developing charity and for her business leadership.

Masakazu Tokura, Chairman of the Board, Sumitomo Chemical Company Ltd. & Chairman, Keidanren

in 1974 Masakazu Tokura joined Sumitomo Chemical Co., Ltd.. He became Managing Executive Officer in 2006, Senior Managing Executive Officer in 2009, and became President in 2011. Since 2019, he serves as Chairman of the Board. Tokura was also an Executive Member of the Council for Science, Technology and Innovation (CSTI), Cabinet Office, Japan, between 2016 and 2019. He was appointed Chairman of KEIDANREN in June 2021. He accelerates efforts to realize Society 5.0 for SDGs as well as to establish sustainable capitalism. He also takes lead in reinforcing business community’s initiatives to promote Green Transformation toward the target of carbon neutrality by 2050.

Francisco Ruiz-Tagle, Chief Executive Officer, Empresas CMPC S.A.

Francisco Ruiz-Tagle is the CEO of Empresas CMPC since August 2018. Mr. Ruiz-Tagle began his career at CMPC in 1991 and since then, he has held different roles in various functions and businesses across the company. Most notably, Mr. Ruiz-Tagle has served as general manager of Celulosa del Pacífico in Chile, Papelera del Plata in Argentina, and CMPC’s Paper Products Division. From 2011 to 2016, he led the company’s Forestry Division. Later in 2016 Mr. Ruiz-Tagle became CEO of the combined Pulp and Forestry Business Unit. He currently sits on the board of the Corporate Leaders Group for Climate Change (CLG Chile) and formerly served as Co-Chair of the Forest Solutions Group (WBCSD). He also serves as counselor at SOFOFA (Chile’s main industrialists’ association) and sits on the board at ICARE (Organization promoting business excellence in Chile).

Diane Holdorf, Executive Vice President, WBCSD

Before joining WBCSD in 2018, Diane was Vice President, Chief Sustainability Officer for Kellogg Company. Diane also served on the Advisory Board of We Mean Business, and on the Executive Advisory Board of the Graham Sustainability Institute at the University of Michigan. In 2015, Diane was recognized as a Maize and Wheat Super Woman by CIMMYT (International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center) as part of the United Nation’s International Women’s Day in 2015. She is also recognized as an Oxfam Sisters on the Planet Ambassador.

Johan Rockström, Director, Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research

Johan is an internationally recognized scientist for his work on global sustainability issues. He helped lead the internationally renowned team of scientists that presented the planetary boundaries framework. Johan acts as an advisor for sustainable development issues at noteworthy international meetings, such as the United Nations General Assemblies, World Economic Forums, and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change Conferences (UNFCCC, also known as COP). Johan acts as chair of the advisory board for the EAT Foundation.

Tengku Muhammad Taufik, President & Group CEO, Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS)

Tengku Taufik was appointed President and Group CEO in July 2020 from his previous position as EVP and Group CFO. He holds Board positions in PETRONAS Carigali Sdn Bhd, PETRONAS International Corporation Ltd, and PETRONAS Refinery and Petrochemical Corporation Sdn. Bhd. He is the Chairman of the East Coast Economic Region Development Council (ECERDC) Audit Committee, the National Trust Fund, the Northern Corridor Implementation Authority (NCIA) Audit Committee and the CEO Action Network. He is also a Council Member of the World Business Council for Sustainability Development (WBCSD), the ECERDC and NCIA, a member of the Board of Trustees of the Merdeka Award Trust, and the National Employment Council (Majlis Pekerjaan Negara). Tengku Taufik is a member of the World Economic Forum (WEF) Oil & Gas Governors Forum, the WEF Industry Action Group and the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC). He is also the Pro-Chancellor of Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP).

Majid Al Suwaidi, Director General, COP 28 UAE Presidency

In August 2022, Ambassador Majid Al-Suwaidi was appointed Director General of the UAE Presidency of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change Conference, COP 28, which will take place in Expo City Dubai in November 2023. As the UAE’s Lead Negotiator on Climate Change, Energy and Sustainability, Ambassador Al-Suwaidi played a key role in the negotiation and adoption of the landmark Paris Agreement in 2015, as well as in the design and adoption of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. In his most recent role, Ambassador Al-Suwaidi served as the UAE Ambassador to Spain, Andorra, and Vatican City. In a previous role as Consul General, he was responsible for opening the UAE’s first ever consulate in New York, where he also led the UAE Mission to the United Nations. As well as being a firm believer in the power of multilateralism, Ambassador Al-Suwaidi also brings considerable insight into the scale and practical complexity involved in the global transition to clean energy, having worked for almost a decade in the international energy sector.

Herry Cho, MD, Head Sustainability & Sustainable Finance, Singapore Exchange (SGX)

Herry Cho drives SGX Group’s sustainability and sustainable finance strategic direction and implementation to transform SGX and its ecosystem into a world-class, trusted multi-asset sustainable exchange. Herry pioneered the development of Asia Pacific’s sustainable finance markets, in her former role as the Head of Sustainable Finance APAC at ING Bank NV. She leverages on a broad financial background having previously worked for almost a decade in Mergers and Acquisitions Advisory, Capital Structuring and Advisory, and Equity & Debt Capital Markets. Herry currently is a member of the Taskforce for Nature Related Finance Disclosure (TNFD) and is in the steering group for Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero (GFANZ). In her former role, her team structured many first-of-its kind transactions in sustainable bonds and loans, and she sat on the Executive Committee of ICMA Green Bond Principles and on the APLMA green and sustainable loans committee.

Hiromichi Mizuno, United Nations Special Envoy on Innovative Finance and Sustainable Investments

Mr. Mizuno is a Japanese financial executive, serving as the Special Envoy of U.N. Secretary- General on Innovative Finance and Sustainable Investments since January 2021. He previously served as Executive Management Director and CIO of GPIF (Government Pension Investment Fund of Japan with AUM $1.5 trillion). Prior to joining GPIF, Mr. Mizuno was a partner at Coller Capital, a London-based private equity firm (January 2003 – January 2015). He formerly worked for Sumitomo Trust & Banking Co. Ltd. in Japan, Silicon Valley and New York (April 1988 – January 2003).

Takahito Tokita, CEO, Fujitsu Limited

He joined Fujitsu in 1988, with over 30 years of experience as a systems engineer mainly in the financial services sector covering banks, life insurance and other financial institutions. He has held various leadership positions in a systems integration group leading its application development and delivery of large-scale, mission-critical systems. Prior to his current role as a CEO, Mr. Tokita was based in London for two years, responsible for the Global Delivery Group which provides service desk and offshore development capabilities across 8 countries with over 14,000 staff.

Peter Bakker, President & CEO, WBCSD

Peter Bakker joined the WBCSD in January 2012 after having been involved as a member for a number of years in his role as CEO of TNT NV, the Netherlands based holding company of TNT Express and Royal TNT Post. Peter is a respected leader in corporate responsibility. He is the recipient of Clinton Global Citizen Award in 2009 and the SAM Sustainability Leadership Award in 2010, and is a UN WFP Ambassador Against Hunger. In addition to his role at the WBCSD, Peter is the Chairman of War Child Netherlands; a Co-Chair in the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN-LN); Council member for China Council for International Cooperation (CCICED); and Deputy Chairman for International Integrated Reporting Council (IIRC).

Catherine McKenna, Co-Chair High-Level Expert Group on the Net-Zero Emissions Commitments of Non-State Entities

Catherine McKenna is the founder and principal of Climate and Nature Solutions. She is the Chair of the UN Secretary General’s new High-Level Expert Group on Net-Zero Commitments of Non-State Entities. She is also a Distinguished Visiting Fellow at Columbia’s Climate School and their Centre on Global Energy Policy and recently launched Women Leading on Climate at COP26. As Canada’s former Minister of the Environment and Climate Change she was a lead negotiator of the Paris Agreement (in particular Article 6 concerning carbon markets) before introducing and successfully defending landmark legislation that established a carbon price across Canada. She also led efforts to phase out coal, reduce plastics in oceans and waterways, and doubled the amount of nature protected in Canada in partnership with Indigenous Peoples. As Minister of Infrastructure and Communities, she made historic investments in public transit and green infrastructure, leveraged private sector investment through the Canada Infrastructure Bank, and led the development of Canada’s first National Infrastructure Assessment to drive to net-zero emissions by 2050.

Tom Brown, ESG Special Advisor, KPMG

Tom is a Special Adviser on ESG to the KPMG Global Board. As well as advising on KPMG’s own Impact Plan, he advises the client side of our business on ESG matters. He represents KPMG on various external bodies and initiatives including: the World Economic Forum’s Stakeholder Capitalism project, the G7 Impact Taskforce and the WBCSD’s Business Commission to Tackle Inequality.

Alberto De Larrazabal, Chief Financial Officer, Ayala Corporation

Albert is the Chief Finance Officer, Chief Risk Officer and Chief Sustainability Officer of Ayala Corporation. Prior to joining Ayala Corporation, Albert served as Globe Telecom’s CCO and CFO. As CCO, Albert had oversight of the integration and execution of strategies across all commercial units, including marketing, sales and channels, and product development for all segments of business, bringing Globe to its position in the market today. Albert has over two decades of extensive experience as a senior executive in Finance, Business Development, Treasury Operations, Joint Ventures, Mergers and Acquisitions, as well as Investment Banking and Investor Relations. He held positions such as VP and CFO of Marsman Drysdale Corp, VP and Head of Consumer Sector – JP Morgan, HK, and SVP and CFO of San Miguel Corp.

Kristina Wyatt, Deputy General Counsel; SVP, Global Regulatory Climate Disclosure, Persefoni

Kristina is Persefoni’s Deputy General Counsel and SVP of Global Regulatory Climate Disclosure. She joined Persefoni from the Securities and Exchange Commission where she was Sr. Counsel to the Director of the Division of Corporation Finance, focused on climate and ESG. Before joining the SEC, Kristina was Director of Sustainability and co-head of the ESG practice taskforce at the law firm Latham & Watkins (a proud WBCSD member).

Juvencio Maeztu, Group CFO and Deputy CEO, Ingka Group

Juvencio Maeztu is Deputy CEO, Management Board member and CFO of Ingka Group (IKEA). Prior to starting his current role, Juvencio led IKEA India as CEO for over 6 years. During his time in IKEA, Juvencio has had extensive store experience, which he believes is the best platform to understand the customers and the core of the IKEA business. Juvencio has had diversified experience and responsibilities in Spain, Portugal, United Kingdom and India before moving to The Netherlands. He is Management Board member and Managing Director for Ingka Holding BV which consists of three businesses: IKEA Retail, Ingka Centres and Ingka Investments. Management Board is the ultimate decision-making body and responsible for the formal conduct and the strategic, structural and financial approvals as well as critical risks for the Ingka Group. Ingka Management Board has two members: the CEO and the Deputy CEO/CFO.

James Gomme, Director, Equity Action & Member of the Extended Leadership Group, WBCSD

James Gomme is Director of Sustainable Development Goals at the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), a business membership organization comprised of some 200 multinational corporations that come together to coordinate and scale up solutions to create a sustainable future. James heads up the organization’s work on engaging members around the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) agenda, supporting companies efforts to integrate the SDGs into their strategic considerations, and working with individual industry sectors to develop detailed roadmaps exploring how they can maximize contributions to the SDGs on the road to 2030.

James joined WBCSD in March 2016 on secondment from long-standing member company Mitsubishi Corporation, Japan’s largest trading and investment company. During more than 10 years at Mitsubishi Corporation James led teams across a variety of corporate sustainability, public affairs and investor relations roles in both Europe and Japan. He has an undergraduate degree from Durham University, an MBA from Madrid’s IE Business School, and a Certificate in Investor Relations.

Miho Noguchi, Master of Ceremony

A passionate professional host, Miho has a strong track record in engaging global audiences. She has hosted numerous high-profile events including, among others, the Tokyo 2020 Olympics Games (Taekwondo) in French, Japan Day at Cannes International Film Festival, Nissan Ariya Online World Premiere, Airbus A350 Delivery Ceremony for Japan Airlines and the Fujitsu Forum Global Reception.

Miho started out in interpretation and translation after honing her foreign language skills in English and French. Her subsequent career was as a radio broadcaster in Nagoya in central Japan. Clemens von Goetze, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to Japan

After finishing his military service, von Goetze studied at the University of Erlangen where he obtained his master degree in history and a doctorate degree in law. He began his professional career at the Foreign Office in 1990. He worked i.a. as Political Officer at the Embassy in Manila, Principal Private Secretary to Federal Foreign Ministers Dr. Klaus Kinkel and Joschka Fischer, Deputy Ambassador to Turkey, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Foreign Minister, PSC-Ambassador for coordination of EU Foreign Policy in Brussels, Director General of the Foreign Department at the Office of the Federal President and Director General for Africa, Asia, Latin America, Near- and Middle East at the Federal Foreign Office. Before assuming his current position in September 2021, he served as Ambassador to Israel and to China.

Emmanuel Faber, Chair, International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB)

Emmanuel Faber was appointed as the inaugural Chair of the International Sustainability Standards Board in December 2021. He is well-known for his passion for sustainability and his leadership positions at multi-national food products company Danone for the past 20 years. He joined the company in 1997 as Chief Financial Officer, Strategy, and served as its Chief Executive Officer from 2014, as well as Chair of the Board from 2017 until 2021. He became a partner at Astanor Ventures in October 2021. He has founded and chaired several international organizations and initiatives, including the One Planet Business for Biodiversity coalition and the G7 Business for Inclusive Growth coalition―co-chaired with the OECD Secretary General. He initiated Danone Communities, a social business initiative providing funding to bring nutrition and water access for vulnerable communities, as well as the Livelihoods Venture, which provides funding for ecosystem restoration and the development of sustainable farming in emerging economies.

Mallika Ishwaran, Chief Economist, Shell

Mallika is Shell’s Chief Economist. She advises on macroeconomic issues, economic trends, and related policy matters to shape Shell’s long-term scenario outlooks. She leads strategic engagements on energy transitions with national and city governments across the world, notably a multi-year collaboration with the Chinese government. Mallika also advises on Shell’s strategic policy and advocacy approach to support the company’s energy transition strategy. She sits on a range of external advisory boards. Prior to joining Shell, she was Deputy Director at the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs responsible for evidence and analysis across the environment, food, and green economy portfolio. She has held senior positions across the UK government, including at the Cabinet Office as Head of Policy Analysis for the 2009 G20 London Summit. Before that, Mallika worked in senior economics and policy roles in the USA.

Maryna Saprykina, Executive Director, CSR Ukraine

Maryna Saprykina is Head of CSR Ukraine, an association of sustainability-focused companies in Ukraine founded in 2009 and WBCSD’s Global Network Partner in Ukraine. Maryna has a strong background in consulting on sustainability, ESG, non-financial reporting and CSR/sustainability projects implementation. She received an Executive MBA Diploma (University of Sheffield, UK’s leading business school, Marketing), is a REAP (UNIDO) certified consultant, a Certified Trainer (London International Academy), and an ISO 26000 national expert.

Simon Zadek, Chair of Finance for Biodiversity (F4B), UN Environment Programme (UNEP)

Dr Zadek is Chair of Finance for Biodiversity, Director of Migrant Nation, and Senior Advisor to the Task Force on Nature Related Financial Disclosure. He was Head, Secretariat, UN Secretary General’s Task Force on Digital Financing of the Sustainable Development Goals, Senior Advisor on Finance in the office of the UN Secretary General, and Co-Director of UNEP’s Finance Inquiry. He co-Chaired China’s Green Finance Task Force, and led the Green Finance Study Group secretariat under the Chinese, German and Argentinian G20 Presidencies. Prior to this, he was Senior Advisor to the World Economic Forum and the Global Green Growth Institute, founder and CEO of the international think tank, AccountAbility and Development Director of the New Economics Foundation. He was Visiting Professor at the Singapore Management University and the Copenhagen Business School, and has been a senior fellow at Tsinghua School of Economics and Management, Harvard`s Kennedy School of Government, and the University of Southern Africa.

Dharsono Hartono, CEO, PT Rimba Makmur Utama

Dharsono Hartono is a Chief Executive Officer of PT Rimba Makmur Utama, an Indonesian based company who manage The Katingan Mentaya Peatland Restoration and Conservation Project (the Katingan Mentaya Project). Dharsono Hartono through his capacity as Indonesia Chamber of Commerce (KADIN) official was the initiator of the Indonesia Palm Oil Pledge (IPOP), a Private sector-led initiative launched on 24 September 2014 during the Climate Summit in New Year to find implementable solutions for sustainable palm oil in Indonesia. Signatories of IPOP are KADIN, Wilmar, Asian Agri, Cargill, Musim Mas, Astra Agro Lestari and Golden Agri-Resources (GAR) which trade about 70%-80% palm oil in Indonesia. Dharsono chaired all the meetings during the drafting and preparation of IPOP and communicate it to all stakeholders including NGO’s and government officials. Dharsono has experience in financial consulting and international banking. Between 1998-2004, he has worked for multinational companies such as PricewaterhouseCoopers and JP Morgan in New York handling merger acquisition, debt management and financing and capital raising.

Jane Nelson, Director, Corporate Responsibility Initiative, Harvard University

Jane Nelson is the founding Director of the Corporate Responsibility Initiative at Harvard Kennedy School and a nonresident senior fellow in the Global Economy and Development programme at Brookings. She serves on the boards of Newmont and the Niger Delta Partnership Initiative and on a variety of corporate and nonprofit advisory councils. She is a member of the Business Commission to Tackle Inequality, the World Economic Forum’s Food Systems Stewardship Board, and the Forum’s Global Future Council on Transparency and Anti‑Corruption. Jane was previously a director at The Prince of Wales International Business Leaders Forum. She worked with the UN Global Compact in the office of the Secretary‑General, preparing his report to the General Assembly on cooperation between the United Nations and the private sector in 2001, and with the Business Council for Sustainable Development in preparation for the Rio Earth Summit in 1992.

Rob Cameron, Global Head of Public Affairs, Nestlé SA

Since February 2020 Rob has been Global Head of Public Affairs at Nestlé SA. He was previously Chief Executive of sustainability strategy consultancy and think tank SustainAbility, now part of the ERM Group. From October 2007 to January 2012 Rob was Chief Executive of Fairtrade International, the central body for Fairtrade, working with colleagues in a complex, multi-stakeholder organization to improve conditions for smallholder farmers. He was also previously owner and executive chairman of Flag, an international sustainability and CSR communication company.

Dominic Waughray, Senior Advisor to the CEO, WBCSD

Until 2021, Dominic championed the environmental sustainability agenda at the World Economic Forum (WEF) from his arrival in late 2005 as the inaugural Director of Environmental Initiatives. In January 2019 he became a Managing Director and Member of the Managing Board. During his tenure at the WEF, Dominic worked with many business leaders across all sectors, as well as representatives from governments, and international and civil society organizations at the highest level, cementing the role of business and public-private cooperation as a key component in shaping the global environmental agenda. Prior to his role at the WEF, Dominic was with Environmental Resources Management (ERM) from 1998 to 2005, leaving ERM as a Principal Partner of the UK Operating Company and a member of the management committee. From 1994 to 1998, he was the inaugural environmental economist at the UK Natural Environment Research Council Institute of Hydrology. He was latterly a Visiting Scholar; Stanford Woods Institute for the Environment (Stanford University) and a Trustee of the Climate Group.

David Nabarro, Co-Director, Institute of Global Health Innovation, Imperial College London and Strategic Director, 4SD

David Nabarro is the Co-Director of the Imperial College Institute of Global Health Innovation at the Imperial College London and supports systems leadership for sustainable development through his Switzerland based social enterprise 4SD. From March 2020, David is appointed Special Envoy of WHO Director General on COVID-19. He is also Senior Advisor to the Food Systems Summit Dialogues. David secured his medical qualification in 1974 and has worked in over 50 countries – in communities and hospitals, governments, civil society, universities, and in United Nations (UN) programs. In the 1990s, David worked for the British government as Head of Health and Population and Director for Human Development in the UK Department for International Development. From 1999 to 2017, he held leadership roles in the UN system on disease outbreaks and health issues, food insecurity and nutrition, climate change and sustainable development. In October 2018, David received the World Food Prize together with Lawrence Haddad for their leadership in raising the profile and building coalitions for action for better nutrition across the Sustainable Development Goals.

Svein Tore Holsether, Chief Executive Officer, Yara International ASA

Svein Tore Holsether is President and Chief Executive Officer of Yara, a global crop nutrition leader with more than 17,000 employees worldwide. Mr. Holsether is passionate about promoting the Sustainable Development Goals in the global business arena. To contribute to a thriving future and drive inclusive growth he is a member of the Executive Committee for the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD). He also serves on the Executive Committee and Board of the International Fertilizer Association (IFA) and International Plant Nutrition Institute (IPNI). Nicolette Bartlett, Chief Impact Officer, Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP)

Nicolette Bartlett is the Chief Impact Officer at CDP, in her role, she is responsible for leading on strategy development for the organization as part of CDP’s Executive Leadership Team and manages the Impact Department, responsible for Environmental Impact and Thought Leadership, Development, Communications, and Measuring, Evaluation and Learning. Nicolette previously held the positions of Global Director of Climate Change at CDP and Carbon Pricing Director and has been the lead author of many CDP publications. Before joining CDP Nicolette was a Senior Program Manager at the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership, leading on international climate policy projects; including the international engagement of The Prince of Wales’s Corporate Leaders Group, developing a Green Growth Platform in Pacific Alliance countries, supporting the development of business groups on climate change and research analyzing the role that non-state actors play in driving down emissions.

Julie Mulkerin Ortiz, Lead, Strategic Energy Transition Initiatives, Chevron

Julie is the Lead of Strategic Energy Transition Initiatives at Chevron and she leads cross-functional teams in setting external and internal incentives for driving a lower carbon future, like GHG targets including net zero aspirations, carbon footprinting and accounting and other strategic initiatives. She has been the lead author on four TCFD-aligned Climate Resilience Reports and in developing enterprise climate policy positions.

Anna Lungley, Chief Sustainability Officer, Dentsu Inc

Anna joined Dentsu in September 2018 where she is responsible for embedding purpose at the heart of business, culture and operations, including directing Dentsu’s fully integrated ‘Social Impact’ strategy, which includes Dentsu’s commitment to sustainability and diversity, equity and inclusion. Anna is a member of the Prince of Wales’s Business & Sustainability global steering committee, the UN Global Compact Diversity and Inclusion Working Group, the Ad Net Zero steering group and the Sustainable Brands advisory board. Anna joined Dentsu from BT Group where she was Director of Sustainable Business and an advisor to the UK government on digital inclusion. Anna has been recognized for her groundbreaking work on climate action, global health and social inclusion winning the ‘Changing Lives’ award at the Broadband World Forum, the World Economic Forum’s ‘New Vision for Development’ award and Business Green’s ‘Sustainability Team of the Year’. 

Hakan Timur, Group President Human Capital & Sustainability, Sabanci Holding

Hakan Timur started his professional career in 1997 at Marsa-Kraft Foods International. After that, he held a variety of local and international human capital and development roles in a wide range of sectors including building materials, industrials, energy and food industry at Sabancı Group companies. Since 2018, he has been working as Sabancı Group Human Capital and Sustainability Group President. In 2021, he also started to serve as the Chief DE&I Officer at Sabancı Holding. In addition to his current role, Timur is an Executive Committee Member at Sabancı Holding, Chairperson at Teknosa, in addition to his BoD membership and Vice Chairperson roles in various companies, i.e. Çimsa, Afyon Çimento, Enerjisa Enerji, Enerjisa Üretim and Sabancı Dx. He is also a Board Member in Private Sector Volunteers Association, Board Members Association and Business Council for Sustainable Development in Turkey. He undertakes the leadership of Turkish Industry & Business Association’s Employment and Social Security Working Group and is a Commissioner in BCTI of WBCSD.

Julie Coffman, Partner/Chief Diversity Officer, Bain & Company Inc.

Julie Coffman is a partner at Bain & Company’s, and the organization’s Chief Diversity Officer. She is also the leader of the company’s Global Diversity, Equity and Inclusion practice, as well as a leader in the company’s global Organization practice. Julie works with clients across industries and regions to develop and deploy effective DEI strategies to meet the needs of their organizations and external partners. Julie is active in her local community, having served on the board of the Northwestern University Settlement House and co-chairing the board of the Rowe Elementary School (a charter school in Chicago). She is also a member of the Chicago Network of Women Business leaders.

Andrew Deutz, Director, Global Policy, The Nature Conservancy

Dr. Andrew Deutz is the Director of Global Policy, Institutions and Conservation Finance at The Nature Conservancy. He is an expert in international environmental law, policy and diplomacy. He directs the TNC’s global policy work spanning the areas of climate change, biodiversity, sustainable development and conservation finance, as well as overseeing relationships with international organizations and multilateral development banks. Prior to joining TNC, he served in several leadership roles with the International Union for the Conservation of Nature and has also served as the acting Lead Forest Negotiator for the US State Department and as Forest Policy Advisor to the World Bank.

Keyvan Macedo, Sustainability Director, Natura &Co.

Keyvan Macedo joined Natura in 2005 and five years later he shifted his career to Sustainability area to run Climate Change and Environmental Impact overseeing all the operation. In this position he was responsible to defines models to assess the environmental impact of all its products and packaging design in the company’s global pipeline, connecting sustainability to the overall business strategy. He is currently the Sustainability Director for Natura &Co, the global beauty group comprising Avon, Natura, The Body Shop and Aesop, responsible for the implementation of 2030 Sustainability Vision – Commitment to Life. He is also responsible for Global Carbon program and has been leading the biodiversity agenda at group level.

Magali Anderson, Chief Sustainability Officer, Holcim

Magali Anderson, was appointed as a member of the Group Executive Committee and Chief Sustainability Officer of Holcim (then LafargeHolcim) in October 2019. In March 2021, the Group announced the expansion of Magali Anderson’s role to Chief Sustainability and Innovation Officer, putting sustainability at the core of its innovation pipeline. Magali joined LafargeHolcim as Group Head of Health & Safety in October 2016. Magali started her career as a field engineer on offshore oil rigs in Nigeria. She spent 27 years in the Oil and Gas industry, mainly with Schlumberger, holding operational line management positions like CEO Angola and Region Head Europe. During her career she also held several functional roles, including Vice President Marketing & Sales, Vice President Shared Services Organization for the Europe and Africa region and Global Head of Maintenance.

Wim Bartels, Lead, CFO Network, WBCSD

Wim works in sustainability since 2003, initially as an assurance provider. Over time he worked with a number of reporting initiatives to drive the field and its convergence, amongst others by working with GRI on the G4 Guidelines and through his role as the programme lead for the Corporate Reporting Dialogue. Wim has been a member of the TCFD since its inception in 2016 and has therefore been an active participant in preparing the TCFD framework that was released in 2017. During his tenure as a partner with a Big-4 firm he worked primarily with multinational companies across Europe and beyond, advising them on reporting, climate-related risks and sustainability strategy. He has led the global network and led a number of the global thought leadership papers. Since 2019 he serves as the chair of the Sustainable Policy Group at Accountancy Europe. Recently he has been appointed as one of the members of the EFRAG Sustainability Reporting Board.

Chiara Del Prete, EFRAG FR TEG Chairwoman, Chair of International Forum of Accounting Standard Setters

Chiara Del Prete has been appointed as EFRAG FR TEG Chairwoman from 1 April 2019. Since March 2022 she chairs the International Forum of Accounting Standard Setters. She leads the technical activities of EFRAG Secretariat and chairs the EFRAG Consultative Forum of Standard Setters, EFRAG User Panel and EFRAG Advisory Panel on Intangibles. She represents EFRAG at the Advisory Forum of Standard Setters. Chiara has a background as auditor and preparer and before joining EFRAG, she was a partner in an audit and advisory firm. From October 2011 to September 2016 Chiara has been Head of accounting principles at UniCredit Group and in charge of the external reporting disclosure. She has been involved in international for a of standard setters for more than a decade and she has been member of ESMA Corporate Reporting Standing Committee (from April 2017 to March 2019).

Wendy Cromwell, Head of Sustainable Investment, Wellington Management Company

Wendy is the Head of Sustainable Investment at Wellington Management, setting the research agenda and strategies for the firm’s sustainable investment practice, including impact, climate, and long-term engagement strategies. As vice chair, Wendy is a senior member of the firm’s management team and acts as an aide to the chairman and CEO with respect to external affairs of the organization, with a focus on representing our firm globally with clients, prospects, government organizations, and industry groups in speaking about our business and industry. Wendy belongs to the CFA Institute and the CFA Society Boston. As of January 2019, she has served as director on the board of the United Nations-supported Principles of Responsible Investing.

Thomas Becker, VP Sustainability and Mobility, BMW AG

Before his current role, Dr. Thomas Becker was Vice President Government and External Affairs at the BMW Group in Munich from 2007 to September 2019. During his time in the area of Government and External Affairs he supervised the worldwide representation of the BMW Group’s political interests, the company’s approach to integrate political topics into the product as well as business communications and the steering of the sustainability communication of the company. Dr. Thomas Becker started his career as an expert in the department of environmental policy at the Association of the German Industry (BDI) in Berlin. He later held several leadership positions at the Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA) in Frankfurt. Before his current role with the BMW Group Dr. Becker worked as Deputy Managing Director at VDA, where he was responsible for the association’s co-management. From 1988 until 2003 Dr. Thomas Becker served as a reserve officer with the rank of Captain in the German Air Force.

Otto Scharmer, Senior Lecturer, MIT Sloan & Co-Founder of Presencing Institute, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)

Otto Scharmer is a Senior Lecturer in the MIT Sloan School of Management and co-founder of the Presencing Institute. He introduced the concept of “presencing”—learning from the emerging future. His most recent book, The Essentials of Theory U (2018), summarizes the core principles and applications of awareness-based systems change. In 2015 he co-founded the MITx u.lab and in 2020 the GAIA journey (Global Activation of Intention and Action), which have activated a vibrant worldwide ecosystem of transformational change. Most recently, with his colleagues he co-created a suite of action learning interventions that help UN leaders and UN Country Teams to implement the Sustainable Development Goals. He is a member of the UN Learning Advisory Council for the 2030 Agenda, the World Future Council, and the Club of Rome’s High-Level 21st Century Transformational Economics Commission. In 2021 he received the Elevating Humanity Award from the Organizational Development Network.

Gladys Naylor, Group Head of Sustainable Development, Mondi Group

Gladys Naylor is Mondi’s Group Head of Sustainable Development. Mondi is a leader in packaging and paper, and has operations across 30 countries and is fully integrated across the packaging and paper value chain – from managing forests and producing pulp, paper and plastic films, to developing and manufacturing effective industrial and consumer packaging solutions. Gladys leads the Mondi’s sustainable development work and is responsible for overseeing the delivery against commitments across the ten actions areas that make up Mondi’s Growing Responsibly framework. She has over 20 years of experience in the corporate environmental and sustainability fields and holds master’s degree in chemical engineering and MPhilosophy (Environmental Law).

Karen Westley, Vice President for Environment, Shell

Karen Westley is Global Carbon Solutions Manager for Shell and Global Opportunity Manager for Carbon Capture and Storage. She has a BS in Human Biology from Stanford University and an MSc from Yale University in Tropical Ecology. She spent six years working for a large international humanitarian organization: CARE International. She carried out poverty assessments and designed humanitarian response and poverty alleviation programmes in over a dozen counties, including Kosovo, Zimbabwe, Togo, Ghana, Nepal and Bangladesh.

Tom Williams, Senior Director, Nature Action, WBCSD

Tom has a background in public health sciences and is committed to contributing to social and environmental development. Tom was previously Programmes Director at the International Water Association (IWA), the largest global network of water professionals – addressing and responding to some of the significant challenges we face in managing the water cycle. Tom has worked in both developed and developing countries, with experience collaborating with a range of stakeholders including utilities, government, research institutes, businesses, donor agencies, UN agencies and NGOs.

Andrew Steer, President and CEO, Bezos Earth Fund

Dr. Andrew Steer is the President and CEO of the Bezos Earth Fund, a $10 billion fund to address the pressing issues of climate change and nature in this decisive decade. He joined the Bezos Earth Fund from WRI, where he served as President & CEO for over eight years where he increased its reach, influence and impact, establishing new international offices and launching more than two dozen high-impact initiatives. Zoe Chance, Author & Senior Lecturer, Yale University

Mardi McBrien, Managing Director, Climate Disclosure Standards Board (CDSB)

Mardi is managing director of CDSB and head of standards and regulation at CDP. Her eclectic career to date includes roles as President of an International Forestry Students Association, public-private partnership management, leading flagship campaigns including for the Campaign to Protect Rural England (and the author Bill Bryson), managing WWF-UK’s Earth Hour switching off the lights of the London and UK in 2010 and carbon market policy for UK’s Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC). Mardi has received leadership awards from both the Australia Government and the University of Melbourne and in 2013 was awarded environmental campaigner of the year by the Sheila McKechnie Foundation.

Claire O’Neill, Senior Advisor Climate & Energy for COP26, WBCSD

Claire O’Neill entered politics in 2007 after a transatlantic career in consulting and finance, initially as a policy advisor. Claire served in several Ministerial positions before becoming Climate Change Minister and then attending the UK Cabinet as Minister for Energy and Clean Growth. Claire also served as COP26 President-Designate until she left politics in 2020 to join WBCSD.

Daniel Pacthod, Senior Partner, McKinsey & Company Inc.

Daniel globally co-leads McKinsey Sustainability, a rapidly growing client platform, focused on energy transition, climate and ESG, helping clients transform and innovate to reach Net Zero by 2050 and build a more inclusive and sustainable world. Previously, Daniel founded and led McKinsey Accelerate, a group of more than a thousand practitioners, helping leading organizations sustain transformational change through capability building and leadership development. Daniel chaired the Technology and Capabilities Committee on our global governance board overseeing the strategy to tech-enable and innovate the firm. Daniel also founded and led McKinsey New Ventures, a standalone unit created to incubate new digital client offerings and build alliances and partnerships. He also built and led the firm’s Aerospace & Defense and Industrial Practices in the Americas.

Fatih Birol, Executive Director, International Energy Agency (IEA)

Dr Fatih Birol has served as Executive Director of the International Energy Agency since 2015. After taking office, Dr Birol led the IEA in its first comprehensive modernization programme since its creation in 1974. Dr Birol took up his current position after rising through the ranks of the IEA over two decades. He joined as a junior analyst in the mid-1990s and rose to the position of Chief Economist responsible for the IEA’s flagship World Energy Outlook. Amy Clarke, Co-Founder & Chief Impact Officer, Tribe Impact Capital

Amy is an environmental scientist by training with over 25 years’ experience in corporate sustainability and impact investing. Before Co-Founding Tribe, Amy headed up sustainability teams at both Bank of America and Microsoft, as well as the Private Client team at Charities Aid Foundation. She started her career in environmental consultancy, before moving into sustainable consulting with EY and PwC. Carlos Manuel Rodriguez, CEO and Chairperson, Global Environment Facility

Since 2020, Carlos is the CEO and Chairperson of the GEF Council. The former Costa Rican Environment and Energy Minister was a pioneer in the development of Payment for Ecosystem Services initiatives and strategies for forest restoration, ocean conservation, and de-carbonization, and is an internationally recognized expert on environmental policy, multilateral environmental negotiations, and financing for nature conservation. Carlos has held various technical and political positions over the past 30 years. Since the 1992 UN Sustainable Development Summit in Rio, he has participated in all multilateral environmental negotiations, as an expert negotiator in UNFCCC, CBD, and UNCCD, and participated in negotiations for the creation and implementation of the GEF and the Green Climate Fund. After his second tenure as Minister, he was Vice-President for Global Policy at Conservation International, for 12 years, working in 30 tropical countries in Central and South America, Africa, and Southeast Asia.

Roberto Marques, Executive Chairman & Group CEO, Natura &Co.

Roberto is the Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors, and Group CEO of Natura &Co, a purpose-driven beauty group of iconic brands including Avon, Natura, The Body Shop, and Aesop. He joined Natura back in 2016. Prior to Natura &Co, Roberto was EVP/President of North America for Mondeléz International, and for over 25 years held a number of international executive roles at Johnson & Johnson. He is a Board Member of the United Nations Global Compact and serves as its sole representative from Latin America. At Natura &Co, he leads the Group’s work supporting the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s).

Noppadol Dej-Udom, Chief Sustainability Officer, Charoen Pokphand Group Co., Ltd

Noppadol is currently the SGC Vice Chairman and Chief Sustainability Officer of C.P. Group and the Vice Chairman of the Executive Committee of True Corporation, a major telecommunications service provider in Thailand. He has played an important role in raising the bar of CP Group’s sustainability. Prior to these positions, he was True’s Deputy CEO for Corporate Development and True Group’s CFO. Under his leadership, Thailand’s first and largest telecommunications infrastructure fund was established. He also received the 2015/2016 Best CFO Awards in technology category from IAA and was selected as the Best CFO from FinanceAsia.

Paul works to accelerate action by business to tackle climate change and inequality. A leading proponent that business should be a force for good, Paul has been described by the Financial Times as “a standout CEO of the past decade”. As CEO of Unilever (2009-2019), he demonstrated that a long-term, multi-stakeholder model goes hand-in-hand with excellent financial performance. Paul was a member of the UN Secretary General’s High-Level Panel which developed the SDGs and which he continues to champion, working with global organizations and across industry to push the 2030 development agenda. Paul’s new book, “Net Positive”, is a call to arms to courageous business leaders, setting out how to build net positive companies which profit by fixing the world’s problems rather than creating them. Jo Da-silva, Director and Global Sustainable Development Leader, Arup Group Ltd.

Jo is the Global Director of Sustainable Development at Arup. Jo earned her global recognition as an engineer who has applied knowledge and design expertise to improve safety, promote inclusivity, and enhance resilience of communities, cities and infrastructure globally. She led the planning, design and implementation of a wide range of buildings, infrastructure, and urban regeneration projects for Arup, and has also worked extensively in crisis and disaster contexts for non-governmental, UN agencies and multi-laterals. Jo has authored numerous papers and publications and received an honorary doctorate in humanitarian engineering from Coventry University. In 2007 she founded Arup International Development and in 2016 she co-founded the Resilience Shift to raise awareness and drive action to improve the resilience of critical infrastructure globally and am currently a Board Director. Jo was made a Dame Commander of the British Empire this year in recognition of her contribution to international development.

Mike Bloomberg, U.N. Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Climate Ambition and Solutions, Founder of Bloomberg LP and Bloomberg Philanthropies, 108th Mayor of New York City

Michael has long been a global leader in the fight against climate change. As three-term mayor of New York City, he implemented a groundbreaking strategic sustainability plan and reduced carbon emissions by 13 percent, positioning the city as a model for climate action around the world. His foundation, Bloomberg Philanthropies, focuses on the environment as one of its key program areas, and he has given more than $1 billion to the global climate fight. Bloomberg serves as the UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Climate Ambition and Solutions, as well as Global Ambassador for the Race to Zero and Race to Resilience campaigns. He is also Global Advisor to the Winners of The Earthshot Prize, the global environmental prize launched by Prince William and The Royal Foundation to highlight solutions that can help repair our planet.

Sanda Ojiambo, CEO & Executive Director, United Nations Global Compact (UNGC)

Sanda was appointed CEO & Executive Director of the United Nations Global Compact by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in June 2020. As the world grappled with the COVID-19 pandemic, Sanda launched an ambitious new UN Global Compact strategy to accelerate and scale the global collective impact of business by upholding the Ten Principles and delivering the Sustainable Development Goals through accountable companies and ecosystems that enable change. During her tenure she has also promoted stronger business engagement with UN partners to deliver and finance the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Sanda brings to the UN Global Compact more than 20 years’ experience in the public, multilateral and private sectors including as Head of Sustainable Business and Social Impact, Safaricom Plc in Kenya; and capacity development work in CARE International and United Nations Development Programme Somalia.

Arantza Ezpeleta, Chief Financial and Sustainability Officer, Acciona Energía

Arantza began her professional career at Telefonica R+D, before joining Acciona Energia in 1998 as Renewable Energy Project Manager. In 2002 she is appointed as Business Development Director for Europa. As Business Development Director for Europe, Arantza led the company’s internationalization process, opening new markets, developing, and managing renewable energy projects, of different technologies, in various countries. In 2008, in order to enhance Acciona’s global business, Arantza is appointed International Director at Acciona headquarters. In 2014 she joins the Chairman’s Office as Director of the International Area. From 2016 Arantza is appointed the Chief Technology and Innovation Officer at Acciona, leading the Innovation and Digitization of the whole group. Arantza has been recently appointed Chief Financial & Sustainability Officer of Acciona Energia.

Ezgi Barcenas, Chief Sustainability Officer, Anheuser-Busch (ABInBev)

Ezgi is AB InBev’s Chief Sustainability Officer, overseeing the company’s sustainability vision and strategy. In this role, Ezgi coordinates across all business functions to advance sustainability and inclusive growth. Her team focuses on agricultural development, water stewardship, circular packaging, climate action and responsible sourcing to build a resilient value chain spanning more than 50 countries. She leads ESG engagement and reporting, and also oversees the 100+ Accelerator, an award-winning program which pilots and scales sustainable innovations. Since joining the company in 2013, Ezgi has held key roles within the Corporate Affairs and Procurement functions. She most recently served as the Global Vice President of Sustainability. Prior to AB InBev, she worked in international trade, public health and international development.

Jai Shroff, Global CEO, UPL Limited

Jaidev (Jai) is the Global CEO of UPL Limited. He is a well-recognized global leader in the Chemical & Agri-Inputs industry with over 30 years of experience in India and internationally. He has driven the transformation of UPL from a largely domestic player to a truly Indian multinational organization. Jai believes passionately in the power of collaboration and inter-sectoral partnerships. He is actively involved in the global development agenda, including the World Economic Forum’s Grow Africa and Grow Asia initiatives, IFPRI’s Sustainable Agriculture and Global Food Security Initiative, WBCSD, Chicago Council, IGD and ICAR. Stephen Polasky, Regents Professor, Fesler-Lampert Professor of Ecological/Environmental Economics, University of Minnesota

Stephen is a Regents Professor and the Fesler-Lampert Professor of Ecological/Environmental Economics at the University of Minnesota where he has a joint appointment in the Department of Applied Economics and the Department of Ecology, Evolution & Behavior. He is also a fellow of the University’s Institute on the Environment. His research interests focus on issues at the intersection of ecology and economics and include the impacts of land use and land management on the provision and value of ecosystem services and natural capital, biodiversity conservation, sustainability, environmental regulation, renewable energy, and common property resources. He is a co-founder of the Natural Capital Project, a partnership between the University of Minnesota, Stanford University, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, The Nature Conservancy, the Stockholm Resilience Center, and the World Wildlife Fund.

Florian Schattenmann, Chief Technology Officer and Vice President-Innovation and R&D, Cargill Incorporated

Florian is Cargill’s Chief Technology Officer and Vice President for Innovation and Research & Development (R&D). Prior to joining Cargill in 2018, Florian spent 8 years at The Dow Chemical Company. His most recent role was Vice President for Performance Materials & Coatings R&D. Florian has also held leadership roles at SulphCo Inc., GE-Bayer Silicones, a joint venture of General Electric and Bayer AG based in Leverkusen, Germany, and globally for the Silicone Elastomers Business. Earlier in his career, Florian managed several research laboratories at GE’s Global Research Center. Florian is a certified Six Sigma Master Black Belt, holds seven U.S. patents and has numerous publications. He serves on the Scientific Advisory Boards for Texas A&M AgriLife and College of Agriculture & Life Sciences, the College of Science and Engineering at University of Minnesota, and the Department of Chemistry at University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Christoph Schweizer, CEO, Boston Consulting Group (BCG)

Christoph is CEO of Boston Consulting Group (BCG), elected May 2021. Prior to his role, he was BCG’s chairman for Central and Eastern Europe and the Middle East. He has also served as a member of the firm’s Executive and Operating Committees since 2014. Christoph is a member of several leading organizations, including the Business Roundtable and the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) International Business Council. In 2020 and 2021, Christoph was recognized as a HERoes Advocate Executive Role Model by INvolve People for his work with Women@BCG related to the hiring, promotion and retention of women. Throughout his career, Christoph has supported clients in healthcare, private equity, and across industries in major transformational programs such as digital transformations and post-merger integrations.

Ben Keswick, Executive Chairman, Jardine Matheson

Ben has been Executive Chairman of Jardine Matheson since January 2019. He was Managing Director from April 2012 to June 2020. He has held a number of executive positions since joining the Group in 1998, including finance director and then chief executive officer of Jardine Pacific between 2003 and 2007, and group managing director of Jardine Cycle & Carriage until March 2012. Ben is chairman of Dairy Farm, Hongkong Land and Mandarin Oriental. He is also chairman of Jardine Cycle & Carriage and a commissioner of Astra. He is a director of Yonghui Superstores and held the position of chairman between 2018 and 2020. He is also a member of Chongqing Mayor’s International Economic Advisory Council.

Suphachai Chearavanont, CEO, Charoen Pokphand Group Co., Ltd

Suphachai is the Chief Executive Officer of Charoen Pokphand Group (C.P. Group), one of Asia’s leading conglomerates that consists of over 100 companies operating in 21 countries in agri-food, retail and telecommunications. He also serves as the Chairman of the Executive Committee of True Corporation (listed on the Thai Stock Exchange), where he was previously President and Chief Executive Officer, and oversees group-wide strategies on sustainability policies and corporate communications. In 2015 he was awarded “Frost & Sullivan Asia Pacific Telecom CEO of the Year” at the Asia Pacific ICT Awards and also elected President of the Telecommunications Association of Thailand appointed under The Royal Patronage.

Abdalah Mokssit, Secretary, Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change

Before becoming Secretary of the IPCC, Abdalah was involved in the IPCC process in various capacities including as Vice-Chair of Working Group I during the Fifth Assessment Report (AR5). Abdalah was the Permanent Representative of Morocco with the WMO as Director of the National Meteorological Service of Morocco as well as the Third Vice President of WMO, one of IPCC’s parent Organizations. He was a member of several WMO commissions including the Commission on Climatology and the Commission for Basic Systems. He has been active in international cooperation with regional and international centers, such as the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts, the African Centre of Meteorological Applications for Development (ACMAD) and the Aladin Consortium, a European group of countries working on numerical weather prediction.

Johanna Lissinger Peitz, Senior Adviser, Ministry of Environment

Ambassador Lissinger Peitz is recently appointed to lead the work within the Swedish Government offices on preparations from a high-level meeting in the commemoration of the first UN conference on the human environment that took place in Stockholm in 1972. Before that she has been the Lead negotiator for Sweden and EU in the UN Climate Change process and earlier on in the field of chemicals and waste. Johanna was the EU lead negotiator on climate finance in the period after Paris and leading up to Katowice. She has also had roles as COP president for the 7th Conference of the Parties for the Stockholm Convention and for the third ministerial meeting on integrated chemicals policy (ICCM3). Her last assignment was at the Swedish Mission to the UN in New York leading the work together with India on the Industry transition track ahead of the Climate Summit in September 2019.

Annica Bresky, President & CEO, Stora Enso

Annica is the President and CEO of Stora Enso since December 2019, and member of the Group Leadership Team since joining the company in 2017. Before her current position, Annica was Executive Vice President of Stora Enso’s Consumer Board Division. During her career, she has held various management positions in the forest industry, including President and CEO of Iggesund Paperboard AB in 2013-2017 and Managing Director at BillerudKorsnäs AB in 2010-2013. Annica is a board member of Fagerhult, Confederation of European Paper Industries (CEPI) and Swedish Forest Industries Federation (Skogsindustrierna). She is also a member of The Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA) and World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) Executive Committee.

Nina Arquint, Chief Risk Officer, SwissRe Group

Nina is Chief Risk Officer Corporate Solutions and Member of the Corporate Solutions Executive Committee. Nina joined Corporate Solutions from the Group Risk Management, where she was Head Group Qualitative Risk Management at Swiss Re and already member of Swiss Re’s Risk Management Executive Team, reporting to the Group CRO. She had the group-wide responsibility for the identification and oversight of emerging, operational, political, regulatory and sustainability risk as well as information security. Prior to joining Swiss Re, Nina was Head of the Strategic Services Division and member of the Executive Board of the Swiss Financial Markets Supervisory Authority FINMA as of February 2013.

Mark Carney, UN Special Envoy on Climate Action and Finance

Mark Carney is currently the UN Special Envoy for Climate Action and Finance and Prime Minister Johnson’s Finance Adviser for COP26. Mark is a member of the Arnhold Distinguished Fellowship Program Board within Conservation International. He is also an external member of Stripe’s Board, a global technology company building economic infrastructure for the internet. Mark was previously Governor of the Bank of England (from 2013 to 2020), and Governor of the Bank of Canada (from 2008 to 2013). Internationally, Mark was Chair of the Financial Stability Board (from 2011 to 2018), He chaired the Global Economy Meeting and Economic Consultative Committee of the Bank for International Settlements (from 2018-2020) and was First Vice-Chair of the European Systemic Risk Board (from 2013-2020). Hanneke Faber, President Global Foods & Refreshment, Unilever

Hanneke joined Unilever in 2018 as President of Europe and member of the Unilever Executive. In this role, she delivered strong results and accelerated the digitization of our European business. Hanneke spent most of her career in the FMCG and retail industry. Prior to joining Unilever, she worked at Royal Ahold Delhaize as Chief E-commerce and Innovation Officer, and member of the Executive Committee playing a key role in accelerating the company’s e-commerce business. Between 2013 and 2016, she was Chief Commercial Officer & Member of the Executive Committee of Royal Ahold responsible for e-commerce, digital, innovation and customer branding. Hanneke started her career at Procter & Gamble where she became Vice President and global leader of three of P&G’s top brands with a presence in over 180 countries.

Kristina Kloberdanz, SVP and Chief Sustainability Officer, Mastercard

As the first CSO at Mastercard, Kristina is responsible for leading Mastercard’s Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) strategy. Kristina’s role at Mastercard rests on two decades of experience from her work at IBM, most recently serving as Corporate Responsibility Leader, overseeing IBM’s global corporate responsibility strategy and brand reputation. Kristina has served on a variety of nonprofit boards and advisory councils, locally and internationally, lending her expertise in sustainability, marketing, strategic planning and fundraising. A former professional ballerina, she also loves an adventure and can be found traveling the globe from the peaks of Kilimanjaro to the mountains of the Himalaya.

Richard Lesser, CEO, Boston Consulting Group

Richard Lesser has served as CEO since 2013. Under his leadership, Richard oversaw the launch of BCG Digital Ventures, BCG GAMMA, BCG TURN and, the BCG Center for Climate & Sustainability. He also serves as chief advisor to the World Economic Forum’s Alliance of CEO Climate Leaders, is on the board of directors of the Business Roundtable where he leads the CEO COVID-19 recovery task force, serves on the Steering Committee of the Council for Inclusive Capitalism with the Vatican, and is a member of several leading organizations, such as the WEF’s International Business Council, the Fortune CEO Initiative, the WSJ CEO Council, and Catalyst, among others.

Eva Zabey, Executive Director, Business for Nature

Eva leads Business for Nature, a global coalition calling for business action and policy ambition to reverse nature loss in this decade. Previously, Eva led multiple projects at the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) for 15 years. This included leading work on natural, social and human capital measurement and valuation for business decision-making, towards integrated performance management, and ultimately reporting for investors. She led the development of the Natural Capital Protocol on behalf of the Natural Capital Coalition, as well as the establishment of the Social & Human Capital Coalition. She delivered a TEDx talk in 2012.

Hakan Bulgurlu, CEO, Arçelik

Hakan is the head and CEO of Arçelik, a leading global manufacturer of home appliances. Under his leadership, Hakan has helped grow the company into an inclusive, sustainable, and responsible business. His vision turned Arçelik into an Industry Leader in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index and saw the company included in the FTSE4Good Index for five consecutive years. Hakan is a member of the Young Presidents Organization and a founding member of Amstel Dialogues, a CEO round table of European leaders that aims to increase the speed of European innovation.

Renowned documentary producer specialising in global health, science, environment and developing world issues, Anya is a regular facilitator at European Green Week and European Development Days. She was ITN Health and Science Correspondent and a news anchor on Sky News and BBC World News. She is Founding Director of Rockhopper Media, an award-winning independent Production Company.

Dr. Martin Frick, Deputy to the Special Envoy for the UN Food Systems Summit 2021, United Nations

Martin served before as the Senior Director of UN Climate Change where he was overseeing the implementation of the Paris Agreement and the secretariat’s Climate Action work. As programme director for former Secretary-General Kofi Annan’s Foundation, he developed the founding narrative of climate justice. He previously served as Director for Climate Change at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. He was the German representative for human rights and humanitarian affairs at the UN General Assembly and served as the European Union’s lead negotiator in the establishment of the UN Human Rights Council. As Ambassador to the international organizations based in Germany, he helped building up the UN’s sustainability hub in Bonn.

Erica Ocampo, Global Director of Sustainability, Sims Limited

Since August 2019, Erica serves as the Global Director of Sustainability for Sims Ltd, a newly created position. She has led the development of science-based, company-wide sustainability strategy aligned to the company’s purpose narrative and growth strategy. From data management to climate change goals development, Erica is integrating ESG principles across the company. Prior to Sims, Erica worked for Dow starting in 2007 where she worked across businesses developing and leading strategies and programs.

Henri Moore, Vice President Head of Global Responsibility, Corteva Agriscience

Henri is Vice President/Head of Global Responsibility at Corteva Agriscience and President of the Corteva Foundation. Henri is responsible for the development and execution of a Global Responsibility strategy, inclusive of Community Investment, Sustainability, Agriculture Development and Consumer Strategy in over 140 countries. In addition to leading Global Responsibility initiatives that drive growth and value for the business, Henri helps to build and maintain relationships with a broad range of key stakeholders to attract and Corteva’s next generation of talent. Thomas Lingard, Global Sustainability Director, Climate & Environment, Unilever

Thomas leads the climate and environment within the Unilever Sustainability Team. Thomas led the development of Unilever’s new climate and nature strategy, launched in June 2020, which included a recommitment to 1.5 degree Science-Based Targets, a new Net Zero by 2039 commitment and the launch of a €1bn Climate & Nature fund, and led the development of the Climate Transition Action Plan being put to Unilever’s shareholders at the 2021 AGM. Thomas joined Unilever in 1999 with a role in UK Social & Environmental Affairs. Ellie is currently Head of Sustainability at New World Development Company Limited and K11 Concepts Limited, where she founded the function and drives the “New World Sustainability Vision 2030” across the Group’s businesses in Hong Kong and mainland China, leads sustainable financing initiatives, and oversees Nature Discovery Park at K11 MUSEA. Ellie also co-founded Impact Kommons, Asia’s first UN Sustainable Development Goals-focused startup accelerator. Michelle Grogg, Vice President, Corporate Responsibility & Sustainable Development, Cargill

Michelle leads Global Corporate Responsibility at Cargill and is the Executive Director of the Cargill Foundation. She joined Cargill in 1998. Michelle is responsible for leading the company’s global corporate responsibility and sustainable development efforts including the development and implementation strategic partnerships with non-governmental, nonprofit and international development organizations to drive progress against Cargill’s sustainability commitments and advance the company’s purpose to nourish the world in a safe, responsible and sustainable way. Stefanie decided to leave the conventional pathway of an inhouse legal counsel by joining Daimler and focusses now on the implementation of sustainability at Daimler. Stefanie joined the Daimler world at car2go in Stuttgart back in 2013, after starting her career as legal counsel at the former airline airberlin. Focusing on legal advice in building up new businesses in the shared mobility field, gaining experience in coordinating international M&A. As former Executive Assistant to the Board of Management Member for Integrity and Legal Affairs, she started to work on the sustainability topics from regulatory and reporting matters to stakeholder management.

Michael Werner, Lead for Circular Economy, Google Inc.

Mike leads Google’s global circular economy strategy to achieve their mission to maximize the reuse of finite resources across their operations, products, and supply chains and enable others to do the same through the use of our technology. Mike works across Google’s entire business including consumer hardware, real estate and workplaces, corporate IT, data centers, Cloud and several of their billion user products, as well in direct engagement with their customers and external partners. Mike has both consulted for and led teams driving sustainable design, green chemistry, toxicology, environmental compliance and circular economy in a range of sectors including consumer electronics, building and construction, and primary materials.

Nicolás Gordon, Director of Corporate Sustainability, Empresas CMPC S.A.

From 2007 until 2011 Nicolás worked in the areas of green building, energy and sustainability for Explora Hotels, where he served as Director of Engineering and Environment. In 2014, Nicolás became the Manager of the Office of Sustainability at New York University (NYU), where he led the institution’s carbon and energy reduction efforts, and the Green Grants program which provided funding for initiatives that drive sustainability in the higher education sector. Starting in 2018, he now serves as Corporate Director of Sustainability at CMPC, where he is leading the strategic integration of sustainability into the company’s businesses and operations.

Erica Bliss, Business Development Manager Mineral, Google Inc.

Erica leads Business Development for Mineral and spent the past 12 years designing new products and services in agriculture. Prior to that, Erica led BD across East and Southern Africa for Syngenta, building crop lending, insurance and supply chain initiatives across a wide variety of crops. Erica developed sustainable, inclusive supply chains in emerging markets with Coca-Cola, Walmart and other multinationals in collaboration with NGOs including the Gates Foundation and TechnoServe.

Austin Kennedy, Manager, Redefining Value, WBCSD

Austin is a Manager with the Redefining Value team at the WBCSD. In this role, Austin helps lead the annual Reporting matters review process and publication and supports several other initiatives in the program. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics & Business and Engineering Studies from Lafayette College and a master of science in Sustainable Development with an advanced certificate in Energy & Finance from HEC Paris. His professional thesis focused on the value companies can derive from obtaining external assurance on non-financial information. Austin has prior non-profit, education and consulting experience in the United States, the Caribbean, Central America, Europe, and Southern Africa as well as extensive research experience in corporate sustainability disclosures

Alka Upadhyay, Assistant Vice President, Tata Sustainability Group

Alka has been with the Tata Group for the last 20 years, most recently as Assistant Vice President, Tata Sons. She leads Energy and Environmental efforts of Tata Sustainability Group and is responsible for research, consultancy and policy development for the Tata Group in climate change, environment and sustainability arena. Prior to joining Tata Sons, she spent a decade with Tata Steel across functions such as operations, technology development and product application. She played a leading role in creating climate change cell at Tata Sons and developing low carbon strategy for 25 Tata companies across steel, power, chemicals and service sector.

Federico Merlo, Managing Director & Senior Management Team, WBCSD

Federico is a marketing and sales professional with over twenty-five years of experience. Federico worked in product sales at large multi-national companies, start-ups and consulting before joining the non-profit at WBCSD. Federico join WBCSD in 2016 as Members Relations Director and was then appointed Managing Director of Members and Other Stakeholder Relations. Federico combines an interest in understanding members’ sustainability business drivers and an analytical approach to commerce. Prior to WBCSD he worked at DuPont in many different countries for their marketing department.

Scott Tew, Vice President, Sustainability & Managing Director, Center for Energy Efficiency & Sustainability, Trane Technologies

Scott is responsible for forward-looking sustainability initiatives aimed at transitioning to more efficient and climate-friendly solutions, and minimizing resource use within company facilities. In addition, Scott serves as a thought leader in linking public policy, economic impacts and a value-stream approach to sustainability. His recent efforts have led to the development of world-class initiatives, including introduction of the company’s comprehensive 2030 targets, the creation of the EcoWiseTM portfolio, launch of the largest customer-facing corporate commitment to combat climate change with the Gigaton Challenge; and as a pioneer in integrated reporting.

Gonzalo Muñoz, Chile high-level Climate Champion, UNFCCC

Gonzalo is a business entrepreneur and social change-maker at the forefront of environmental innovation in Chile, who reinvented the country’s recycling industry to usher in a future without waste. Gonzalo did so by founding a recycling company in 2009 and, ever since, has been presiding over the expansion of the company to other parts of Latin America. His company produces a recycling station capable of recycling 90 percent of household solid waste. Through the popularity of his innovation, Gonzalo has been leading a cultural movement to advance environmental sustainability and social inclusion.

Nigel Topping, UK high-level Climate Champion, UNFCCC

The Champion role was created in 2015 at the climate talks in Paris to help realize ambitions to lower carbon emissions and build resilience to climate change. It is held for two years and Nigel will work alongside the Chilean COP High Level Climate Action Champion, Gonzalo Muñoz. Nigel was most recently CEO of We Mean Business, a coalition of businesses working to accelerate the transition to a zero carbon economy. Prior to that he was Executive Director of the Carbon Disclosure Project. Nigel brings expertise from 18 years in the private sector, having worked across the world in emerging markets and manufacturing.

Nick Mabey, Chief Executive, E3G

Nick Mabey is the Chief Executive of E3G and a founder director since 2006. In addition to his leadership role, he engages on issues of climate diplomacy, foreign policy, European politics and the security implications of climate change and resource scarcity.

Theo De Jager, President, World Farmers’ Organization

Dr. De Jager is President of the World Farmers’ Organization and former president of the Southern African Confederation of Agricultural Unions (SACAU, 2013-2018) and of the Pan African Farmers Union (PAFO, 2014-2017). He is also chairman of the board of Agri All Africa, a board member of FANRPAN and serves on the board of Agri Limpopo, where he is responsible for land reform, transformation, farmer development and Africa Liaison since 2004.

Gabriela Burian, Multi-Stakeholders Global Partnerships Lead, Bayer

Gabriela is currently acting as the WBCSD and WEF Liaison Delegate for Bayer and an executive board member with the Ladue Education Foundation. Gabriela also serves as chair for the Ladue Business Community Partnerships and Bayer Latin Business Resources Group Co-Lead. Gabriela joined Bayer in 1996 and served in several leadership roles and with joint-ventures (Renessen, with Cargill). Gabriela directed the first Regional Sustainability Initiative as Sustainability Manager in Brazil. In 2012, she was promoted to Sustainable Agriculture Global Director. Barbara Baarsma, CEO, Rabo Carbon Bank

Barbara is CEO of Rabo Carbon Bank at Rabobank. This new business initiative is developing propositions that will enable customers to contact the bank not only for financial transactions but also for buying and selling CO2 credits and CO2 reduction insetting services. Under Baarsma’s leadership, Rabobank will accelerate and develop this initiative. Before March 2021, she was CEO of Rabobank Amsterdam. From 2016 to 2019 she was the Director of Knowledge Development at Rabobank where she headed RaboResearch.

Colm Kelly, Global Leader, Purpose, Policy and Corporate Responsibility, PwC

Colm Kelly is Global Leader – Purpose, Policy and Corporate Responsibility, and is a member of the PwC Global Markets Leadership Team. In his previous roles, Colm has been PwC’s Global Tax and Legal Services Leader, and Global Chief Operations Officer for the PwC network. Tim Lord is Senior Fellow for Net Zero at the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change. He has spent 20 years working on climate and energy policy in the UK government – most recently, leading the UK’s net zero strategy, and playing a key role in the world-leading Electricity Market Reform programme.

Adam Gromis, Global Head of Sustainability Policy, UBER

Prior to joining Uber, Adam worked for 5 years helping investors build impact investing portfolios with positions at Goldman Sachs Wealth Management, Imprint, and the Global Impact Investing Network. Before impact investing, Adam spent 7 years engaged in efforts to commercialize zero emission vehicle technologies with positions at the California Fuel Cell Partnership, the California Air Resources Board, and UTC Fuel Cells.

Jean-Pierre Clamadieu, Chairman of the Board of Directors, ENGIE

Jean-Pierre was appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors of Engie in May 2018. He was CEO and Board Member of Solvay between 2012 and 2019. He joined Solvay in September 2011 as member of the Executive Committee, after the acquisition of Rhodia by Solvay. Previously, he was Rhodia’s Chief Executive Officer since 2003 and Chairman of the Board of Directors since 2008. Jean-Pierre Clamadieu is Chairman of the Board of Opéra de Paris, and a member of the Board of Directors of Axa and Airbus.

Virginie Duperat-Vergne, CFO, Arcadis

Virginie started her career in 1997 as an external auditor and spent more than ten years at Arthur Andersen. She then moved to Ernst & Young, before joining Canal+ as Compliance Officer for Accounting Standards. Virginie then became Group Deputy Chief Financial Officer and a member of the Senior Leadership Team at TechnipFMC. Directly before joining Arcadis as the Chief Financial Officer, she was the Chief Financial Officer of the publicly listed Gemalto, prior to the acquisition of Gemalto by the Thales Group.

Nadir Godrej, Managing Director, Godrej Industries

Nadir Godrej is the Managing Director of Godrej Industries Ltd. and the Chairman of Godrej Agrovet Ltd. He is also the Co-Chair of Godrej Good & Green Governing Council. He has been a Director of several Godrej companies since 1977 and has developed the animal feed, agricultural inputs and chemicals businesses of Godrej Industries and other associated companies and has been very active in research. Nadir is deeply committed to the GOOD and GREEN strategies and achievement of set targets for the Godrej Group.

Mikkel Larsen, CSO and Managing Director, DBS Bank

Mikkel chairs the DBS Sustainability Council, which is responsible for developing DBS’ overarching sustainability framework, setting key performance indicators and targets in consultation with the relevant stakeholders, and driving sustainability initiatives across the bank. Prior to joining DBS, Mikkel was the CFO for Asia Pacific in UBS from 2009 to 2012 covering Investment Bank, Wealth Management and Asset Management. Mikkel has also worked in Citigroup in London and KPMG in London and Denmark.

Erin Fitzgerald serves as CEO of USFRA. Erin’s thought leadership in the sustainability space convenes food and agriculture stakeholders in an inclusive dialogue on the sustainable food systems of the 21st century. Prior to USFRA, Erin served as Senior Vice President, Global Sustainability for the Innovation Center for U.S. Dairy, where she conducted an environmental impact assessment that led to an industry-wide voluntary carbon reduction goal of 25 percent by 2020.

Mariana Mazzucato (PhD) is Professor in the Economics of Innovation and Public Value at University College London (UCL), where she is Founding Director of the UCL Institute for Innovation & Public Purpose (IIPP). Dr. Agnes Kalibata, Special Envoy to the 2021 Food Systems Summit, United Nations

Dr. Kalibata is responsible for outreach and cooperation with key leaders, including governments, to ensure the Summit serves as a catalytic process within the Decade of Action to improve food systems around the world to deliver on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Paris Agreement. Since 2014, Dr. Kalibata has also served as President of AGRA. Dr. Kalibata has a distinguished track record globally as an agricultural scientist, policy maker and thought leader.

From 2000 to 2018, Cláudia was CEO of Sonae IM – the investment unit of Sonae that invests in technology in retail, telecommunications and cybersecurity. as well as CEO of Sonae Capital, a separate listed company present in several sectors such as real estate, renewable energy, tourism, fitness and industry. In 2019 Cláudia was elected to the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Sonae. Amongst other board positions Cláudia is chairman of the board of Modelo Continente (Retail), Sonae Sierra (Shopping Centres), Worten (Electronics Retailing) and Non-Executive Board Member of NOS (Telecomunications).
