Skills strategies to future-proof your business and create a sustainable Future of Work

Skills are fundamental to people’s lives, to the success of businesses and to a flourishing economy. They enable people to find employment, perform their work successfully and build opportunities for personal and professional growth. This empowers them to provide for their families, invest in their dreams, and contribute to their communities. Irrespective of the sector they operate in or the specific task that needs to be carried out, without the right set of skills, businesses cannot function and are unable to grow.

During the past 10 years, workforce planning has become increasingly demanding due to a number of external factors. Be it from rapid technological evolution, changing demographics of workers, the urgency for shifting to a green economy or adapting to the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, the world of work is facing major disruptions. Keeping skills up to date in this fast-changing environment is crucial to create a world in which people, businesses and societies thrive. This requires companies to understand what set of skills they have access to today, which skills they will need in the future and develop a strategy for building a workforce that has the skills required to perform well and to remain employable.

This session (and the CHRO Guide to Skills Development) aims to demonstrate the importance of comprehensive skills development strategies for creating future-proof businesses as well as a more sustainable future of work, and present business decision makers – in particular Chief Human Resource Officers (CHROs) – with guidance to strengthen their companies’ skills development approach.
